Founded in 1996 by Swen Vinckethe Belgian company Larian Studios became known on computer since 2002 thanks to Divine Divinitya rather pleasant top-down action-RPG, inspired by the famous series Diablo. Relatively well received at the time, the game was then declined into a full-fledged series with the release of Beyond Divinity in 2004 (still on computer), followed by Divinity II: Ego Draconis in 2009 and its extension Flames of Vengeance in 2010 – both having been entitled to a console version on Xbox 360 and a joint reissue under the title of Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga (2011) then Divinity II: Developer’s Cut (2012).
After a short detour in 2013 to management and strategy games, with a Divinity: Dragon Commander remained exclusive to computer, it is however Divinity: Original Sin which definitely established the reputation of the developers when it appeared on computer in 2014, then on playstation4 and XboxOne the following year – the project having previously been the subject of of a successful kickstarter campaign. Leaving aside the action-RPG to focus on significantly more tactical turn-based combatthe title offered to dive back into the world of rivelon by embodying two Track-Sourcesin charge of eliminating it from Ensourcersmages perverted by the mighty magic of the Source. The opportunity to propose an adventure two-player co-op and integrating quite original mechanics of negotiation between the characters in case of disagreement on the choices to be made.
Now considered a major player in the field, Larian Studios masterfully hit the nail on the head in 2017 with the excellent Divinity: Original Sin IIconsidered by many to be one of the best western roleplaying games of his time, indeed of all time. An international success which has opened some pretty doors since the studio is now working on Baldur’s Gate IIIin early access since October 2020 on computer and Stadia. As for Divinity: Original Sin IIit was adapted on playstation4 and XboxOne in 2018, before landing by surprise on theeShop of the nintendo-switch September 5, 2019 – a limited physical edition having even been proposed by Limited Run Games.
History now places us in the shoes of a Ensourcer or a Sourcer victim of the repression ofDivine Order and on the way to the prison of Fort Joy. Except that the trip will not go as planned and will quickly leave us the possibility of pursuing our own objectives. Before that, however, it will be necessary create your avatareither by choosing one of six Origin characterswhose background has benefited from considerable work, either starting from scratch, which will involve choosing from among four different races (Dwarf, Elf, Human or Lizard) or their undead variations. At the same time, we will also opt for one of the fourteen classes offeredknowing that like the first Original Sinthese are mainly archetypes allocation for many features of our avatar, and in no case of shackles limiting our creativity.
Whether it’s the physical attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Constitution, Memory and Perception), of the combat abilities on which the skills usable during confrontations, civilian capabilities such as eloquence or stealth (among others), talent offering various passive bonuses, or key words influencing the attitude of the inhabitants of rivelon with regard to us, all these elements remain fully configurableas the appearance of our character and even some aspects of the soundtrack. A little musical coquetry, we can indeed choose the instrument type (bansuri, tambû, oud or cello) used for play melodies accompanying our adventures.
Adventures that will once again be possible to experience alone or with otherswith up to four-player multiplayer, in local or online wireless mode. However, if this hybrid version is necessarily less beautiful than the otherswith its dynamic image definition and its framerate which takes a little hit in the wing during certain big battles, being able to play as such on the console of nintendo remains a real bargain. Especially since cross-platform backup system makes it a perfect mobile complement to the Steam. We therefore offer you today this long gameplay video to give you an overview of the character creation and prologue. Knowing that the game is on promotion on theeShop until August 14, 2022 at the price of €24.99 instead of €49.99, the biggest discount since its launch. The opportunity may be to take advantage of it!
